My research uses play as an analytical lens for understanding how people create identities, communities, and social relationships across digital and analog places. Drawing on ethnographic research with Gaymers in Mexico and my broader work on geek culture, I examine how joy, fun, and play reveal dimensions of queer life and masculinity that other analytical approaches can overlook.
